Extek Ltd, was originally formed in the early '80s to design, manufacture & market Arduous & Hazardous Area Telephones. Over the years the company successfully developed many market leading products the most famous of which was their remote telephone test & interrogation, "Self-Test".

In 1998, to improve its world-wide market penetration, the company was sold to Federal Signal Ltd, a division of Federal Signal Corporation of Chicago, USA. Since then, Federal Signal continued the advance of Extek into the marine & energy markets as well as continuing in its more traditional markets.
In order to focus on their Akusta Industrial Business, Federal Signal Limited announced the sale of their Extek Arduous Environment Telephone Business with effect from the 1st February 2003. The business was sold to a group including Arnesys Ltd who have a wealth of experience of & operate in related communications markets.

Apart from its range of analogue weatherproof Handset & Handsfree telephones, Extek brings products and expertise in Hazardous Environment Telephones. It is the stated intention that the Total Customer Focus (Arnesys R) will be applied also to the Extek business.
